Attendant Care Services children and adults personal care provided by professionally trained attendants when physical limitations require assistance with eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, medication management, light housekeeping, etc. The ACS program does not include medical tasks such as medication administration (unless delegated by a physician), tracheotomy care, feeding tubes or catheters. In the Medicaid programs, services must be ordered by a physician. Our programs are funded by Medicaid as well as private fee-based services.
The goal of the program is to provide quality, direct care services for program participants who are in need of assistance with their daily living skills. Program participants will be able to live in their communities rather than a residential facility. Personal care services will enhance the overall quality of life of participants by enabling them to:
- Continue to enjoy activities in the community.
- Live in the least restrictive environment as independently as possible.
- Remain in their homes and to prevent inappropriate institutionalization.
- Seek or maintain employment.
To be eligible you must be a resident of Louisiana, be determined to need Attendant Care Services and be able to direct services or have a guardian who is able to direct services
