Raintree House

Raintree House is a 14-bed foster group home assisting an average of

25 adolescent females each year.

The philosophy of Raintree House is to provide quality services to adolescent females between the ages of 11 to 21 years old. Residents have often experienced trauma, abuse, and neglect, and Raintree is the first stable environment they have experienced.

Residents are provided with a plan focusing on personal development and preparation for a forever home/independent living. With the help of dedicated staff, most Raintree House residents increased overall positive behaviors, successfully participated in school, and strengthened independent living skills.

Why 'Raintree'?

"When I asked where the name 'Raintree' came from, I was told the house on the corner of 8th and Chestnut streets, where the office and Raintree House sit side by side, is dotted with golden rain trees."
"They're strong trees, beautiful and resilient, kind of like our kids"

Events

The Raintree House residents participate in yearly events, such as Raintree Day, Family fun Day, our Holiday party, Thanksgiving potluck, and many more. These are on Raintree grounds with music, delicious food, and fun activities.

Outings

There's never a dull week at The Raintree House. There's always an outing to look forward to, thanks to our staff and generous donors. Our residents go to jazz fest, crawfish boils, saints and pelicans' games, canoeing, sailing, and more.

Activities

We try our best to give to let residents indulge in as many hobbies as they desire. We have a resident who plays the tuba outside, another who likes to tend to our garden. We also have weekly girl-talk sessions, craft sessions, and music therapy sessions.
